Questions parents actually ask

Safety & privacy

Is Trellis safe for my kids?
This is the question we built the company around. There are no ads, no strangers, no chat with anyone outside your family, and no algorithmic feed designed to keep kids scrolling. Kids see their day, their tokens, and their coach — that's it. Parents control every account and every reward.
What do you do with our family's data?
We collect the minimum needed to run the app, and we never sell or share family data with advertisers — there are no advertisers. Your membership is our entire business model, which means you're the customer, not the product. If you leave, you can take your data with you.
My child is using AI? Tell me exactly what that means.
Academy's coach is an AI tutor with a very short leash. It only talks about learning — it won't chat about anything else, won't browse the internet with your child, and won't pretend to be their friend. Parents can see what their child is working on at any time. We'd rather the coach feel boring to a tech reviewer than risky to a parent.
Will Trellis add more screen time to my kid's day?
It's designed to do the opposite. Kids check in briefly to see their day and earn tokens — and every reward points back off the screen: family movie night, staying up late, family game night. If your child is spending hours in Trellis, something's wrong and we want to know.

Learning & the Academy coach

Is Academy aligned to my child's school standards?
Yes — Academy is built around the Common Core State Standards, the framework most U.S. schools follow, so what your child practices lines up with what they're expected to learn grade by grade. It's diagnostic-led, though: it starts by finding where your child actually is, then grows from there through standards-aligned milestones. Think of it as a companion to the classroom — and a strong one over summer — not a replacement for it.
What ages is Trellis for?
Families with kids roughly K–12. Younger kids tend to live in HQ's rhythm and rewards with a parent nearby; older kids get more out of Academy's coach. The diagnostic means siblings at completely different levels each get their own path.
My child is neurodivergent. Will this work for them?
Trellis is built for every kind of learner — no labels, no boxes, no comparing your child to anyone else's pace. The coach meets each child where they are and celebrates the next step from there. We won't make clinical promises, because we're not clinicians. What we will promise: your child will never be made to feel behind.
What about summer learning loss?
It's the reason Trellis exists — our own summer was slipping into screens when we built the first version. A steady daily rhythm plus a coach that keeps minds moving is our answer to the summer slide, fifteen minutes at a time.

Getting started

How do I get the app?
Straight from your browser — no app store. It takes about a minute on iPhone, Android, or a computer. Step-by-step instructions are here.
Why isn't it in the App Store or Play Store?
App stores take up to 30% of every membership, and that cost would land on you. Installing from the browser keeps the price family-sized and means you're always on the latest version. More on that here.
Does it work on our mix of devices?
Yes — one account works across iPhone, Android, tablets, laptops, and Chromebooks, and your family's day stays in sync everywhere.
How long does setup take?
Most families are running the same evening: install, add your kids, sketch tomorrow's rhythm, pick a few rewards. Each child's diagnostic is short and friendly — it feels like a game, not a test.

Billing

What does Trellis cost?
One simple price with everything included: $9.99/mo for up to 2 kids, $12.99/mo for up to 4, $15.99/mo for up to 6 — each with a 14-day free trial. Details on the pricing page.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
Your plan starts billing monthly at the price you picked. We'll remind you before the trial ends — we'd rather you cancel than feel tricked.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, in the app, in two taps. We'll even remind you before your trial converts. You keep access through the end of the month you paid for, and your family's data is exportable if you go.
Is there really no free plan?
Really. Free apps for kids are usually paid for with ads or data, and we'll never do either. The 14-day trial is free and full-featured — that's our version of free.
